Aerobus Lake in Kenora District, Ontario
This lake has 8 Layers or 15 Layers for HD Version
Aerobus Lake is a pristine 5,200-acre wilderness lake in Northwestern Ontario's Kenora District, featuring 36 miles of scenic shoreline and crystal-clear waters that reach depths exceeding 200 feet in the southern regions. This remote boat-access lake is 10 miles long and offers exceptional fishing for Lake Trout that typically inhabit depths of 30 to 60 feet during summer months, along with outstanding populations of Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Perch, and Brook Trout. The lake's deep, cold waters create ideal habitat for trophy Lake Trout, while the varied structure from shallow bays to deep channels provides diverse fishing opportunities year-round. As the only lake in the area with limited resort access, Aerobus Lake offers anglers a true wilderness experience with pristine water quality and excellent fishing success rates, where catching 30 to 40 fish per day is common
Located near Perrault Falls in the heart of Ontario's Sunset Country and accessed via the Aerobus Lake Road, this remote destination sits approximately 90 minutes northeast of Kenora and is part of the 600,000-acre Perrault Falls Adventure Area, a protected ecosystem managed for sustainable fishing and wildlife conservation. The surrounding region offers extensive ATV trails, hiking trails through boreal forest, bear and moose hunting opportunities, and abundant wildlife viewing including loons, bald eagles, and black bears. Nearby Kenora on Lake of the Woods provides additional attractions including the Lake of the Woods Museum, Husky the Muskie statue, craft breweries, and the historic downtown district, while the area's numerous pristine lakes and rivers offer endless opportunities for exploration and outdoor adventure in Northwestern Ontario's wilderness
This exquisite laser-cut wooden topographical map of Aerobus Lake would create a breathtaking centerpiece in your wilderness cabin, lodge, or home, celebrating your connection to this remote Northwestern Ontario treasure. The handcrafted design features a natural wood top layer that beautifully frames the lake's elongated 10-mile shape and 36 miles of pristine shoreline, while the water depths are represented through a stunning gradient flowing from light blue in the shallower areas to rich deep blue at the remarkable 200-foot maximum depth in the southern basin. Every contour, island, and bay is precisely laser-etched into the layered wood construction, creating a three-dimensional work of art that captures the remote beauty and exceptional fishing character of this wilderness gem

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these actually 3D or just engraved?
These are true 3D layered maps.
- Made from 1/8 inch Baltic birch
- Standard maps have 8 layers. 1 land layer and 7 water layers
- HD maps have 15 layers. 1 land layer and 14 water layers
Each water layer uses a light to dark blue gradient so depth changes are easy to see.
Where are these made?
Everything is made in my shop in Minnesota.
- Design
- Cutting
- Painting
- Assembly
- Frame building
The frames start as locally sourced rough sawn hardwood and are built from scratch.
Do you use real depth data?
Yes, as an angler and map nerd, accuracy matters to me. I use multiple data sources, up to six, to find the most accurate lake contours available.
I would not hang an inaccurate map in my house and I will not send one to yours.
Why buy from Horn Dog Maps instead of Etsy or marketplace sellers?
Most marketplace sellers:
- Buy pre-made cut files, often from overseas
- Have no connection to the lakes
- Cannot verify accuracy
- Have long delays if a file is not available
This leads to lower accuracy and longer lead times, often 6 to 8 weeks.
Because I design everything myself:
- I can create a new lake mockup in about 30 minutes
- You get a more accurate map, faster
What is your lead time?
Most orders ship in 1.5 to 2 weeks depending on the time of year.
Tell me about the Cribbage Boards
These are different from the layered maps and are not something you will find elsewhere.
- Made from a solid piece of Maple or Cherry
- The lake is engraved as if drained
- Then filled with blue tinted epoxy that is still transparent
You can see:
- Channels
- Humps
- Points
- Structure
Additional features:
- 2 or 3 track options
- Choice of peg colors
- Hidden peg storage with a magnetic dovetail slider
- Rubber feet so it does not slide on the table
It is a functional game board and a detailed lake model in one.
