Big Lake is a 526-acre lake in Perch Lake Township, Carlton County, Minnesota, located near the community of Sawyer about 10 miles west of Cloquet, reaching a maximum depth of 25 feet across 8 miles of diverse shoreline. With 84% of its surface area within the shallow littoral zone, the lake is ideally suited to its primary management species of Largemouth Bass and Bluegill, both of which have consistently robust populations in DNR surveys, with over a third of adult bass exceeding the preferred 15-inch size. The lake also holds Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Black Crappie, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch, with shoreline habitats ranging from open gravel and rock shoals to areas of heavy vegetation and sharp drop-offs.
Situated in Carlton County just south of the St. Louis River corridor and the city of Cloquet, Big Lake anchors the small unincorporated community that shares its name along County Road 112. The difference between standard and HD maps is the number of layers. Standard maps have 1 land layer and 7 water layers. The HD lake maps have 1 land layer and 14 water layers. So twice the detail. The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.

These are true 3D layered maps.

Do you use real depth data?
Yes, as an angler and map nerd, accuracy matters to me. I use multiple data sources, up to six, to find the most accurate lake contours available.
I would not hang an inaccurate map in my house and I will not send one to yours.
