This map has 8 layers

Broken Bow Lake is a 14,200-acre reservoir nestled in the foothills of the Kiamichi and Ouachita Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma's McCurtain County, located on the Mountain Fork River approximately 9 miles northeast of the town of Broken Bow. Authorized by the Flood Control Acts of 1958 and 1967 and constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from October 1961 through April 1970, this stunning reservoir stretches 22 miles back into the densely forested mountain country with an average depth that allows for exceptional water clarity. Broken Bow Lake is distinguished as one of the cleanest and clearest freshwater lakes in Oklahoma, with crystal-blue waters resulting from its rock-lined floor and careful shoreline management by the Corps of Engineers, which prohibits private docks and permanently connected structures except at Beavers Bend Marina and the state park lodge areas. The lake maintains a conservation pool elevation of 599.7 feet above sea level with a maximum depth of 169 feet and 220 miles of pristine, pine-studded shoreline featuring small scenic islands perfect for canoeing adventures, rocky tree-lined shores, and towering timber creating spectacular natural beauty that attracts outdoor enthusiasts from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Broken Bow Lake has earned recognition as one of Oklahoma's premier fishing destinations, featured by FLW Outdoors Magazine as one of America's greatest bass fisheries for its exceptional smallmouth bass population, with the lake holding the Oklahoma state record largemouth bass of nearly 15 pounds caught in March 1999. The lake supports diverse fish species including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, white bass, striped hybrid bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, black crappie, white crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, walleye, and year-round stocked rainbow and brown trout, with the Mountain Fork River below the dam providing excellent fly fishing opportunities in two designated catch-and-release trophy trout areas. Recreation facilities include two adjacent Oklahoma state parks: Beavers Bend State Park, located along the Mountain Fork River below the dam with 47 rustic and modern cabins (some with river views), RV and tent campsites, two yurts named "Happy Hearth" and "Bear Tracks," and two group camps; and Hochatown State Park on the lake shores featuring the 40-room Lakeview Lodge with private balconies overlooking the water, RV campsites at Stevens Gap, Carson Creek, and Cedar Creek areas, and extensive amenities. Visitors enjoy the 18-hole Cedar Creek Golf Course nestled among pine forests alongside the lake, the 26-mile David Boren hiking trail, nature center programs at the Forest Heritage Center, the Big Oak Nature Trail and Beaver Lodge Nature Trail, swimming beaches, multiple boat ramps, Beavers Bend Marina offering full-service boat rentals including pontoons, ski boats, and jet skis, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking on the Mountain Fork River rapids, horseback riding, miniature golf, tennis, volleyball, mountain biking, picnic pavilions, and access to over 31,800 acres of public hunting land in the surrounding Ouachita National Forest for deer, turkey, waterfowl, and other game species.
