Crooked Lake is a magnificent 10,360-acre wilderness lake straddling the border of Lake County, Minnesota and Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, stretching 231.66 miles of dramatically irregular, island-studded shoreline along the Basswood River corridor between Lower Basswood Falls and the thundering Curtain Falls. Reaching a maximum depth of 165 feet, the lake holds outstanding populations of Walleye, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Lake Trout in its cold, gin-clear Canadian Shield waters. Its name derives from the French word crocher, meaning hooked, a fitting tribute to the lake's wildly serpentine shape that challenged and delighted the French voyageurs who paddled these waters centuries ago.
The U.S. portion of Crooked Lake lies entirely within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in the Superior National Forest, while the Canadian waters fall within Quetico Provincial Park, making it one of the most iconic border lakes in all of North America. Ancient First Nations pictographs are visible on the rock faces near Lower Basswood Falls, offering a powerful connection to thousands of years of human history on this water. The difference between standard and HD maps is the number of layers. Standard maps have 1 land layer and 7 water layers. The HD lake maps have 1 land layer and 14 water layers. So twice the detail. The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.

These are true 3D layered maps.

Do you use real depth data?
Yes, as an angler and map nerd, accuracy matters to me. I use multiple data sources, up to six, to find the most accurate lake contours available.
I would not hang an inaccurate map in my house and I will not send one to yours.
