Grave Lake is a 372-acre natural lake located near Remer in scenic Cass County, featuring exceptionally clear water reaching a maximum depth of 55 feet with 6.2 miles of irregularly shaped shoreline including many bays and points. Classified as a Lake Class 23 water, the DNR notes these lakes are generally very clear, very deep, have a low percentage of shallow water area, and distinctive irregular shorelines with numerous bays creating prime fishing structure. This exceptional fishery is primarily managed for Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike with abundant populations of both species, including pike averaging 19 inches with fish up to 35 inches sampled regularly in surveys. Anglers also enjoy excellent fishing for Bluegill up to 9 inches, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, multiple bullhead species including Black, Brown, and Yellow Bullhead, plus Bowfin and White Sucker creating a diverse ecosystem. With 132 littoral acres providing prime shallow-water habitat, no aquatic invasive species currently present, and a DNR-owned public boat launch on the northeast shore, the lake is ideal for fishing, boating, water sports, kayaking, swimming, and excellent ice fishing during Minnesota winters.
