Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida and the second-largest natural freshwater lake entirely within the contiguous 48 states, spans across Glades, Hendry, Martin, Okeechobee, and Palm Beach Counties. Covering approximately 730 square miles, it is remarkably shallow, with an average depth of only 9 feet and a maximum depth of 12 feet. Known locally as "The Big O," it is a significant ecological and recreational resource for South Florida. Anglers from around the world are drawn to Lake Okeechobee for its exceptional bass fishing, and the lake also supports populations of crappie, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish.

Beyond fishing, Lake Okeechobee offers a variety of recreational activities. The difference between standard and HD maps is the number of layers. Standard maps have 1 land layer and 7 water layers. The HD lake maps have 1 land layer and 14 water layers. So twice the detail. The HD Maps are limited to Extra Large, XX Large, and Gigantic sizes only. On the smaller sizes the depth change of the wood is too extreme and you end up losing detail.
