Pleasant Lake in Wright County, Minnesota

This lake has 8 Layers or 15 Layers for HD Version

Pleasant Lake is a beautiful 597-acre lake located in Wright County, Minnesota near the charming communities of Annandale and South Haven, featuring an impressive maximum depth of 74 feet with an average depth of 16 feet and approximately 4 miles of scenic shoreline. This diverse fishery received high marks from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources with a Fish-based Index of Biological Integrity assessment in 2019 that captured seventeen nearshore fish species including four intolerant species such as blackchin shiner, banded killifish, blacknose shiner, and Iowa darter indicating good water quality. The lake supports excellent multi-species fishing opportunities with walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill comprising the majority of trap net catches, yellow perch, rock bass, pumpkinseed, and multiple bullhead species thriving in diverse habitat. The lake also hosts less common species including cisco (tullibee) adding to its ecological diversity, though invasive species including Eurasian watermilfoil, starry stonewort, and zebra mussels require vigilant prevention efforts from boaters. Two public boat launches provide easy access for fishing boats, pontoons, kayaks, and canoes, where families can enjoy peaceful mornings casting for walleye, afternoons pursuing northern pike along weed edges, and evenings targeting trophy crappie while surrounded by natural beauty where bald eagles soar overhead and loons call across morning waters

Located at the southern edge of the magnificent 210-acre Clearwater/Pleasant Regional Park positioned between Pleasant and its larger neighbor Clearwater Lake, Pleasant Lake provides exceptional access to world-class recreational facilities and charming small-town Minnesota hospitality just 60 miles northwest of Minneapolis. The county park features a reservable shelter, beautiful sandy swimming beach, modern playground, 2 miles of paved trails for year-round biking and walking, picnic areas with tables and grills, fishing pier extending into Pleasant Lake's clear waters, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, modern restrooms, 18 holes of disc golf winding through scenic forests, designated off-leash dog area, and public boat access with dock. The charming city of Annandale, positioned between the lakes, offers delightful attractions including Minnesota Pioneer Park preserving over 40 years of Central Minnesota pioneer heritage from the late 1800s and early 1900s with historic buildings, artifacts, and demonstrations, the Wright County Swappers Meet voted Minnesota's best flea market by WCCO and grown into the largest seasonal outdoor market in the state drawing shoppers from across the region, Annandale Art & Textile Center showcasing local creativity, Spilled Grain Brewhouse for craft beers, Cafe Jules Bistro offering excellent dining with ambiance and full menu, and charming downtown shops and restaurants. This beautifully crafted laser-cut wooden map of Pleasant Lake would make a wonderful centerpiece in your Wright County cabin, Annandale area home, or family lake cottage, capturing the exceptional fishery quality and recreational character of this beloved Central Minnesota treasure positioned within an award-winning county regional park. The handcrafted design features a natural wood top layer that elegantly showcases the lake's 4 miles of shoreline with protected bays ideal for fishing, the two public boat launches, the adjoining Clearwater/Pleasant Regional Park with its extensive trail system and amenities, and the scenic countryside typical of Wright County where rolling farmland meets pristine lake country. The water depth is dramatically illustrated through a graduated light blue to dark blue gradient that captures the impressive depth variations from shallow vegetated areas teeming with bluegill and crappie to the remarkable 74-foot maximum depth where walleye patrol cooler waters, creating a striking representation of a biologically diverse and healthy Minnesota fishery. Whether commemorating successful catches of trophy walleye and northern pike, peaceful summer days swimming at the county beach, family picnics followed by disc golf rounds through shaded forests, biking paved trails with spectacular lake views, teaching children to fish from the pier, exploring the fascinating pioneer heritage at Minnesota Pioneer Park, or simply celebrating your connection to Wright County's incredible recreational resources and warm small-town hospitality just an hour from Minneapolis, this quality piece serves as both attractive wall art and a cherished reminder of memorable moments spent on Pleasant Lake's clear waters surrounded by the natural beauty of Central Minnesota's lake country

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these actually 3D or just engraved?

These are true 3D layered maps.

  • Made from 1/8 inch Baltic birch
  • Standard maps have 8 layers. 1 land layer and 7 water layers
  • HD maps have 15 layers. 1 land layer and 14 water layers

Each water layer uses a light to dark blue gradient so depth changes are easy to see.

Where are these made?

Everything is made in my shop in Minnesota.

  • Design
  • Cutting
  • Painting
  • Assembly
  • Frame building

The frames start as locally sourced rough sawn hardwood and are built from scratch.

Do you use real depth data?

Yes, as an angler and map nerd, accuracy matters to me. I use multiple data sources, up to six, to find the most accurate lake contours available.

I would not hang an inaccurate map in my house and I will not send one to yours.

Why buy from Horn Dog Maps instead of Etsy or marketplace sellers?

Most marketplace sellers:

  • Buy pre-made cut files, often from overseas
  • Have no connection to the lakes
  • Cannot verify accuracy
  • Have long delays if a file is not available

This leads to lower accuracy and longer lead times, often 6 to 8 weeks.

Because I design everything myself:

  • I can create a new lake mockup in about 30 minutes
  • You get a more accurate map, faster

What is your lead time?

Most orders ship in 1.5 to 2 weeks depending on the time of year.

Tell me about the Cribbage Boards

These are different from the layered maps and are not something you will find elsewhere.

  • Made from a solid piece of Maple or Cherry
  • The lake is engraved as if drained
  • Then filled with blue tinted epoxy that is still transparent

You can see:

  • Channels
  • Humps
  • Points
  • Structure

Additional features:

  • 2 or 3 track options
  • Choice of peg colors
  • Hidden peg storage with a magnetic dovetail slider
  • Rubber feet so it does not slide on the table

It is a functional game board and a detailed lake model in one.
