Turtle Lake in Beltrami County, Minnesota
Turtle Lake is a 1,436-acre lake with a maximum depth of 45 feet. It is located 7 miles north of Bemidji in Beltrami County. Big Turtle Lake is part of a chain of 11 lakes known as the Turtle River Chain and is directly connected to Little Turtle Lake (upstream) and Movil Lake (downstream), both of which can be safely accessed by boat from Big Turtle. The outline of the lake roughly resembles a turtle, hence the name.
