Whitefish Chain of Lakes in Crow Wing County, MN
The Whitefish Chain of Lakes, covering more than 14,000 acres of Crow Wing County, is made up of 13 waterbodies dominated by Upper and Lower Whitefish, Big Trout, Rush, Cross and Daggett lakes. A number of lakes in the present-day chain were not actually connected until the 1880s when the Pine River Dam on Cross Lake was completed. The dam caused water levels to rise, creating permanent channels that hadn €™t before existed.
This map features 9 layers and the contours are in 10 foot intervals. Because of the extreme depth of Whitefish and Big Trout lake, some of the contours have to be engraved rather than cut. Also because of the Large numbers of lakes, no individual lake information is included.
